Nothing happens in the dental van. The van is our vessel for transporting the portable dental equipment to the facilities. In the 7 years we have been providing care inside the shelters, we have found through trial and error that patients are more trusting and comfortable being inside the shelter, instead of a van or dental RV.
Each of our pop-up clinics look slightly different depending on the size of the room. We can set up in a space as small as 10x10...
or create a clinic with privacy screens in a large shelter warehouse
To schedule a dental clinic, we start with a site visit of your facility. We will also email a document that explains everything in greater detail.
We need to tour the designated space for our pop-up clinic. We only need access to a standard electrical outlet and a faucet to fill our 2 liter dental water tank.
Due to the weight of our dental equipment, we cannot serve facilities that do not have a wheelchair ramp or elevator, if we are above the 1st floor.
Depending of the number of program participants, we can attend semimonthly or monthly.
We require 5 patients to schedule a dental clinic. Appointments are 90 minutes each. Our scheduled time in the facility is typically 8:15- 5 pm. This gives every patient plenty of time for quality care, education and to answer all of their questions. We have a trademarked style of how we interact, consult and provide care to our patients. Every patient we treat, comment that they have never had a dental experience like ours.
Our onsite visits are life enhancing and convenient for patients. We deliver access to care and decrease barriers to care such as lack of transportation, financial limitations, dental phobias and the fear of being judged for how long it has been since the last dental visit.
The final goal of our care is to establish a brick and mortar dental home for the patient. Onsite care is a great starting point and convenient for the patient, but we want our patients to establish a primary care dentist outside of Dental At Your Door, This continues the care we started for a long life of good oral health. We have trusted Medicaid providers that we collaborate with for advanced care. We do not refer to corporate chain dental offices. All of our referrals are mom and pop, privately owned offices or offices in two of Denver's major hospitals.
There is no cost to the facility and YES, we are MEDICAID PROVIDERS!
If a patient is uninsured, it's okay because we collaborate with Deserving Dental, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, No patient is ever turned away due to financial limitations or lack of state assistance.
Our patients experiencing homelessness NEVER receive a bill.
